Grads to Be Program Support Team

Members of the G2B Support Team are composed of faculty, staff, student leaders, and administrators from different divisions and departments that have joined forces to support undocumented students at Fullerton College.

Aline Gregorio (She/Her/Hers)

Instructor, Geography – Social Sciences

agregorio@fullcoll.edu

Location: 1425-01

Fun Fact: I used to surf without knowing how to swim. When I decided to learn to swim as a sophomore in high school, it was water polo season, so I joined the water polo team and ended up making the varsity team. I never played water polo again but became a swim teacher through college.

Why did you join the G2B Support Team? I was an undocumented student at Fullerton College at a time when there were no services to support undocumented students. While I have now been in the US for a long time, I understand the cultural displacement of migration and documentation status. I am here to support students through what I recall being a difficult time in my life.

Arturo Ocampo J.D. (He/Him/His)

District Director – Diversity & Compliance

aocampo@nocccd.edu

Location: Anaheim Campus – Human Resources

Fun Fact: I worked in farm labor from 12-17 years of age in Salinas California picking strawberries. I disliked the work so much I couldn’t eat another strawberry until I was almost 30 years old.

Why did you join the G2B Support Team? Growing up in a mixed immigration family I understand the fear and stress our G2B students experience. I joined to support our students and their families. I joined to advocate for our G2B students and  provide whatever expertise I have to advocate for them.

Daniela Rodriguez (She/Her/Ella)

Adjunct Counselor – CalWorks

drodriguez@fullcoll.edu

Location: 2000 Building, Second Floor

Fun Fact: I like to run long distance races and horseback riding, as a teen would compete in show jumping.

Why did you join the G2B Support Team? To provide support to the Grads2Be student population. To help create an environment Grads2Be students feel safe to grow and develop their potential.

Dr. Gilbert J. Contreras Ph.D.

Dr. Jennifer LaBounty Ed.D. (She/Her/Hers)

Dean of Counseling – Counseling & Student Development

jlabounty@fullcoll.edu

Location: 2000 Building, 2nd Floor

Fun Fact: When I was young, I swam competitively, placing at the national level several times. My best stroke was the Butterfly.

Why did you join the G2B Support Team? Because I have a vested interest in making sure that we provide our G2B students the access, opportunity, and resources needed to reach their academic and professional goals.

Mohammad M. Abdel Haq (He/Him/His)

Instructor, Sociology – Social Sciences

mabdel@fullcoll.edu

Location: 1423-01

Fun Fact: I grew up in Jordan to Palestinian parents and moved on my own to the United States when I was 16 years old.

Why did you join the G2B Support Team? I was undocumented myself for many years, and I had to hide it, as I understood the vulnerability that comes with being undocumented. After becoming a US citizen, I committed to supporting undocumented students and their families.

Magaly Renteria (She/Her/Hers)

Financial Aid Technician – Student Verification/Federal Work-Study/Cal Vet Fee Waiver/Promise Waiver

mrenteria@fullcoll.edu

Location: 100 Building, Room 117

Fun Fact:  I have two dogs, two turtles, and a cat! I’d love to adopt many more animals, but I do not have the space.

Why did you join the G2B Support Team? I joined the G2B Advisory Board because I believe that all students deserve equal access to education and resources. With my financial aid background, I hope to provide helpful information that will facilitate the navigation of financial aid processes for G2B students. It is said that education plays a major role in the growth and progress of a society. I strongly believe that G2B students must be a part of that growth and progress.

Rena Martinez Stluka (She/Her/Hers)
Director – Admissions & Records

rmartinezstluka@fullcoll.edu

Location: 2000 Building, 1st Floor

Fun Fact: I am a Fullerton College alum who attended right after high school then returned after having a family to continue my education. It is never too late!

Why did you join the G2B Support Team? I wanted to be in a position where I could make a positive impact for our G2B students. I have family members who have had to navigate the challenges of being undocumented and this issue is close to my heart.
